Discover Portugal’s Fairytale Coastline in One Unforgettable Day
Embark on a journey through Sintra, Cabo da Roca, and Cascais — three of Portugal’s most stunning and iconic destinations — on this small-group day tour from Lisbon.
From fairytale castles and royal palaces to dramatic cliffs and charming seaside towns, this experience combines culture, history, and breathtaking scenery all in one day.
Let our expert local guide lead you through the magic of Sintra’s hills, the edge of continental Europe, and the glamour of Cascais — all from the comfort of a modern, air-conditioned vehicle.

Your day begins in Sintra, home to one of Portugal’s most iconic landmarks — the Pena Palace, a stunning example of 19th-century Romantic architecture.Perched high on the Sintra hills, this colorful palace is a dream come true, combining Gothic, Moorish, and Manueline influences. As you wander through its ornate halls and lush gardens filled with exotic plants, enjoy panoramic views of Sintra Natural Park and the Atlantic Ocean. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Pena Palace truly feels like something out of a storybook.

Next, explore the historic center of Sintra, a charming maze of cobblestone streets, traditional shops, and pastel-colored buildings. Here, you’ll have free time to taste Sintra’s famous pastry, the “Travesseiro de Sintra”, or browse for local handicrafts. With its misty mountains, fairytale palaces, and mysterious atmosphere, Sintra has inspired poets, kings, and travelers for centuries.

From the romantic hills, we head to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe. Standing 150 meters above the Atlantic, the views here are simply breathtaking. The Portuguese poet Luís de Camões once described this spot as the place “where the land ends and the sea begins.” Capture unforgettable photos of the cliffs, ocean, and lighthouse — a perfect reminder of Portugal’s dramatic beauty.

Driving through Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, you’ll reach Guincho Beach, famous for its golden dunes and strong Atlantic winds. It’s one of the most scenic stretches of coast near Lisbon and a favorite among surfers, windsurfers, and nature lovers.

Just outside Cascais lies one of the most impressive natural wonders on Portugal’s coast: Boca do Inferno. This striking rock formation was once a sea cave that collapsed, creating a dramatic chasm where waves crash with thunderous force. On stormy days, you can hear the roaring sound that gave this site its name — a spectacular display of nature’s power and beauty.

End your day in Cascais, a charming fishing village turned seaside resort. Once a favorite summer escape for European royalty, Cascais today offers a perfect mix of elegance and coastal charm. Stroll along the marina, admire the pastel-colored villas, or relax with a coffee by the beach before returning to Lisbon.

On the return journey, enjoy a scenic drive along the Marginal Road, with sweeping ocean views and glimpses of Casino Estoril — Europe’s largest casino and the inspiration for James Bond’s Casino Royale. This coastal stretch offers a perfect final view of Portugal’s stunning Riviera before your tour concludes in Lisbon.
