Explore the Heart of Portugal’s Capital on an Intimate Guided Journey
Discover the magic of Lisbon on a small-group full-day sightseeing tour designed for travelers who want a personal, in-depth experience. Led by an expert local guide, this immersive journey takes you beyond the postcards — through Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks, scenic viewpoints, and hidden treasures.
From the elegant boulevards of Belém to the narrow cobbled streets of Alfama, every corner of Lisbon tells a story. Feel the city’s pulse, learn about its glorious maritime past, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere that makes Lisbon one of Europe’s most enchanting capitals.
Your adventure begins at Eduardo VII Park, the largest urban park in central Lisbon. Named after King Edward VII of England to honor the historic friendship between Portugal and Britain, this lush green space offers one of the best panoramic views of the city and the Tagus River.
Step back in time at the Lisbon Cathedral, the city’s oldest church, built in 1147 after the Christian conquest of Lisbon. Admire its stunning Gothic and Romanesque architecture, and marvel at the intricate stained-glass rose window, lovingly restored with fragments from the original structure.
Next, ascend to Nossa Senhora do Monte Viewpoint, where Lisbon unfolds beneath you in a spectacular 360-degree panorama. From this quiet hilltop, you’ll spot the castle, the Tagus estuary, and the red-tiled rooftops that define the city’s timeless beauty.
Cross the 25th of April Bridge, an impressive suspension bridge often compared to San Francisco’s Golden Gate. Built in 1966 and renamed after Portugal’s 1974 revolution, it’s a striking reminder of the nation’s modern transformation and a gateway to Lisbon’s south bank.
On the other side of the bridge, you’ll visit the Cristo Rei (Christ the King) statue, inspired by Rio de Janeiro’s Christ the Redeemer. Built in 1934, this towering monument offers a stunning perspective of Lisbon’s skyline and symbolizes hope and peace.
Return to the city’s maritime heart — Belém, the neighborhood that celebrates Portugal’s Age of Discovery. Here, you’ll explore landmarks dedicated to the great explorers who set sail to map the unknown world.
Jerónimos Monastery – A masterpiece of Manueline architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, built by King Manuel I as a tribute to the explorers. Visit the church where Vasco da Gama rests eternally.
Belém Tower – The city’s most iconic monument, constructed between 1514 and 1520 to guard Lisbon’s harbor. Its intricate stonework and maritime motifs reflect Portugal’s seafaring spirit.
Monument to the Discoveries – Originally built in 1941, this grand sculpture honors the navigators, monarchs, and visionaries who expanded the world’s horizons.
No visit to Belém is complete without tasting the legendary Pastéis de Belém, Portugal’s most famous custard tarts. First baked in 1837, these pastries follow a secret centuries-old recipe. Enjoy one (included in the tour) and learn the local ritual of how to savor it like a true Lisboeta!
