Itinerary

Your journey begins with a hotel pick-up in Lisbon, Cascais, or Estoril at 8:00 AM. Sit back and relax as you travel north in a comfortable private vehicle. During the scenic 3-hour drive, your guide will share stories about Portugal’s history, culture, and the unique connection between Lisbon and Porto.

On arrival, your private guide will take you on a panoramic introduction to Porto, one of Europe’s oldest cities. You’ll immediately feel its timeless charm — colorful houses cascading down to the river, vintage trams rumbling by, and the aroma of freshly baked pastries filling the air.

Start your discovery at the Dom Luís I Bridge, one of Porto’s most recognizable symbols. Designed by a student of Gustave Eiffel, this double-deck iron bridge connects the city with Vila Nova de Gaia. From its top level, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of the Douro River and the city’s terracotta rooftops — a perfect photo stop!

Next, visit Carmo and Carmelitas Churches, two magnificent Baroque buildings separated by one of the world’s narrowest houses. This tiny hidden home was built to prevent contact between monks and nuns — a quirky piece of Porto’s history that’s always a hit with visitors. Don’t miss the dazzling blue-and-white tile façade that decorates the Carmo Church.

Step into the enchanting Livraria Lello, one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world. With its neo-Gothic design, intricate wooden staircase, and colorful stained-glass ceiling, it feels like something straight out of a fairytale — and indeed, it’s said to have inspired J.K. Rowling when she lived in Porto.

Climb the Clérigos Tower, Porto’s most famous viewpoint. Standing 76 meters tall, it offers a breathtaking 360-degree panorama over the city and the Douro River. As you ascend the 200 steps, you’ll pass 49 ringing bells — a thrilling experience before reaching the top for one of the best photos you’ll take in Portugal.

Your next stop is São Bento Railway Station, often described as the most beautiful train station in the world. Inside the main hall, you’ll find more than 20,000 blue-and-white azulejo tiles depicting Portugal’s rich history — from royal battles to rural traditions. It’s a true masterpiece of Portuguese craftsmanship.

Explore the Porto Cathedral, one of the city’s oldest and most important buildings. Dating back to the 12th century, it combines Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque styles in perfect harmony. From its elevated position, enjoy yet another breathtaking view over the old city and the Douro River.

Visit the Church of São Francisco, famous for its stunning Gothic façade and lavish Baroque interior covered in gold leaf. This church beautifully reflects the wealth and artistry of Porto’s merchants during the 18th century.

No trip to Porto is complete without experiencing its most famous export — Port wine. Visit a traditional wine cellar in Vila Nova de Gaia to learn about the production process, aging methods, and the unique microclimate of the Douro Valley.
(Optional wine tasting available for an additional fee.)

End your adventure with a relaxing stroll along the Douro River, whose shimmering surface inspired its poetic name — “River of Gold.” Watch traditional rabelo boats drifting by and soak in the lively atmosphere of Ribeira, Porto’s historic riverside district.
