Are you ready to truly experience Portugal?
If your passion is diving deep into culture, uncovering history, admiring breathtaking architecture, and tasting local life, then you’ve just found your perfect match. This tour is a meticulously crafted journey that blends the soulful power of faith with the dramatic beauty of the Portuguese landscape and the enchanting charm of medieval villages.
This isn’t just sight-seeing; it’s a deep-dive into the very heart of Portugal’s heritage.
Your day begins with hotel pick-up in Lisbon and a comfortable drive to Fátima, one of the most revered pilgrimage destinations in the world. Here, millions come each year to honor the Virgin Mary’s apparitions to three shepherd children in 1917.
Explore the Fátima Sanctuary, visit the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, and feel the deep spiritual energy of this sacred site. Whether you’re a believer or simply curious about the power of faith, Fátima’s peaceful atmosphere is profoundly moving.
Next, travel to Batalha, home to one of Portugal’s most impressive monuments: the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória (Batalha Monastery).
Built to commemorate the Portuguese victory in the Battle of Aljubarrota (1385), this UNESCO-listed monument took over 150 years to complete. Its intricate Gothic and Manueline design, towering arches, and ornate chapels will leave you speechless.
Take time to refuel! You're free to enjoy a local eatery, have a picnic, or simply relax and recharge at your own pace.
Continue your journey toward the Atlantic coast to reach Nazaré, a fishing village turned world-famous surf destination. From the Sítio viewpoint, take in jaw-dropping views of the ocean and the massive cliffs where waves can reach up to 30 meters (100 feet) high. It was here that surfer Garrett McNamara broke the world record for the largest wave ever surfed.
But Nazaré isn’t just about surfing — it’s a town full of soul. Wander through its narrow streets, meet the local women dressed in their traditional seven skirts, and discover its deep fishing heritage.
Your final stop is the magical medieval town of Óbidos, one of the most charming and romantic villages in Portugal. Encircled by ancient castle walls, Óbidos feels like stepping back in time. Stroll through cobbled streets lined with whitewashed houses, colorful flowers, artisan shops, and cafés serving the local delicacy — Ginjinha, a cherry liqueur often enjoyed in edible chocolate cups.
Learn how Óbidos became known as the “Village of Queens”, once a wedding gift from King Dinis to Queen Isabel. Today, it’s a UNESCO Creative City of Literature, famous for its bookshops and cultural events.
Before your return to Lisbon, taste the famous Ginja, a sour-cherry liqueur, also a local specialty.
